about Volunteering at The Felin Uchaf Centre
Hi there !
are currently looking for practical, well motivated and hard
working people with any previous
building, carpentry or organic gardening experience to
help with gardening and on an eco-visitor centre construction project. There
are currently still places this summer for volunteers with relevant experience.
The remaining accommodation is in the thatched Celtic roundhouses ( please
see the Essential Information 2013 - below for details of the roundhouses) both
of which each sleep a maximum of 5 people.
You can follow
this link for a preview of the volunteer accommodation roundhouses http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EleHH3CoBWg
summer & autumn we have limited numbers to around 10 residential volunteers
- staying in the main farmhouse & roundhouses . The facilities are
very basic and the rooms small. You'd need a very warm sleeping bag and
good warm clothes as the peninsula gets - wet, windy and wild weather even
at this time of year! Please ensure you read through the information below
thoroughly to understand what work we'll be doing and what facilities to
expect at the centre
timber framing on the new visitor & community centre building commenced
last autumn. We currently need help with oak timber framing, stone wall/lime
building until the end of June - then straw bale walling & lime/clay
plastering work, roofing & slating & lots of interesting internal
joinery and furniture work until March 2014.
In addition we are looking to recruit
volunteers who have some organic gardening experience to
help with our beautiful and productive herb & veg community gardens.
We follow a biodynamic planting calender and methodology as closely as possible.
note that all the work at the centre is physically demanding and you'll
need to be fit and have a strong back
you can download the current essential volunteer information to
read, a copy of the centre's Voluntering Policy and an application
form for you to email back to me.
very best wishes
